A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life. - Coco Chanel
I am a girly-girl to the Nth degree! Ever since my mom was a Mary Kay consultant (she hasn’t been for years), I got accustomed to quality skin care treatments and make-up.
After highschool and a couple years into college, I knew I didn’t want to keep my physcology major. (What in the heck am I going to do with that major???) I decided to pursue my love of esthetics and enrolled at the Aveda Institute of Minneapolis in 2005.
Working for 10+ years in different salons definitely kept me current on what the latest hairstyle and color trends were...to be honest, if I could go back and attend the Aveda Institute all over again I would. This time I would get my cosmetology license and become a hair master!
I feel like a million bucks when I have my hair professionally colored and cut. I’ve never been one to shy away from switching things up whether it be going from blonde to brunette, or long to short...I figure, life is short and hair grows so why not experiment and have FUN!!!???
Speaking of fun, you all should check out my AMAZING hairstylist, Chandelle Renslow at Vivid Beauty Lounge in River Falls, WI.
But, Allison....don’t you live in Farmington?
Yes, I do! I drive an hour each way to get my hair colored by her because she is THAT good!
For any blonde reading this, you know how tricky it can be to keep your hair from turning brassy or pulling gold tones. I have been one to over-bleach my luscious locks and as a reminder I have tiny broken strands all over the top of my head.
Chandelle took all of this into account and came up with a plan for my hair health and maintenance. We went with what’s called a “shadowed root” which helps to give me some more dimension in my hair as well as soften the growing out process.
I’m loving the overall look and hoping to grow my hair into a lob. (Longer bob)
Because my roots aren’t as noticeable when my hair grows, I’m able to go longer between color services and I feel the health of my hair improving which also makes me want to keep growing it.
So in a nutshell, my hairstylist girl crush is Chandelle and if you want to feel and look fabulous, I would invest in the commute and her services.
